This photo was taken from Hurricaine Ridge near Mt. Olympus in Washington State. Andy and I walked along the ridge for about 1.5 miles to reach this spot. Some of the snow was still 7 ft deep, but it was crusty enough to walk on top of it without snowshoes. The walking was strenuous. We would like to return in summer. Of course, there was a great sense of solitude as no other people were sighted during our walk.
