The MOREL of the story...
Morchella esculenta, or Morchella conica (?), are found in Springtime at Limberlost following a cool wet period - about the time the lilac bushes are in flower. Part of this year's smallish crop was put to good use in the kitchen last weekend. Pork Chops were prepared on the grill and topped with a preparation from the stove: Morels, Vidalia Onion, Fresh Asparagus from the garden, Sweet Marjoram, Garlic, Salt, and Pepper, and olive oil in a red wine (Grenache - 2007 Andrew Murray, California) reduction. Accompanied by two large potatoes (and the remainder of the wine!) this meal was the perfect conclusion of a memorable weekend.
