October Mushroom

This very strange mushroom appeared in the garden. I am betting the spore for it came along with some mulch from pine bark. The 'muddy' line just on the edge of the cap is very attractive to blue bottle flies making me think that the thing must smell like rotting meat. Today, about a week after this photo was taken, the entire thing was covered with flies. Will post that photo next.
