Bass at Limberlost Pond

Luke David Marvin (amateur entomologist, fisherman, and naturalist) and his catch!

Hungry Bass live in the pond at Limberlost. This photo is taken at the exact site of the water quality monitoring station for the Citizen Stream Monitoring Program (in which I participate as a volunteer).

The pond is filling in pretty fast with sediment, so cattails and other aquatic plants are on the rise. My guess is that in a few years the bass will be gone, but the shallow water wading birds and other life are on the increase. The pond is acting as a 'filter', essentially, for this spring-fed tributary to the Cannon River.
