Intended to drive Friday afternoon to Stevens Point to visit with Jana, see what life is like for her on campus, and help her celebrate her Birthday. Weather was pretty darned bad on Friday, so the idea was held over until Saturday. Hey, the sky cleared up and so did the roads just in time for me to make a 3pm departure. Managed 4 hour drive on Highway #10 across Wisconsin, checked into the Country Inn, and arrived just as the birthday girl was finishing her Saturday shift at Pizza Hut at 8 pm (she is a pizza "assembler"). We went to dinner at Michele's, a pretty nice place for a steak and a martini. It is fair to say we both enjoy a good steak and a good martini.
Sunday morning I picked Jana up at her dorm and we came back to the hotel for breakfast and a relaxing stint in the hot tub. We had it all to ourselves. Then off on a tour of her favorite places on campus, including the radio production facilities. Wow is all of that stuff hi-tech. Digital recorders and sound editing software from Adobe. Really neat stuff. I can see why she enjoys it so much. It is a great way to communicate and it is extremely creative.
Then, a little shopping for groceries. Good chance to show Jana what work I am doing these days. There were even quite a few products from our Mexican friends at La Costena. So, we loaded up on some good quality groceries for her because the dorms do not serve this week. Then, off to lunch at the Wooden Chair Cafe in downtown Stevens Point. Really nice place to eat Sunday Brunch! Ah.....the time is too short. Looking forward to seeing Jana again, soon.
What a great way to spend the first day of spring!
